Harrah’s, R.I. lawmakers seek to break casino impasse
|
PROVIDENCE -- In an already-hectic season for the General Assembly, legislators and officials from Harrah’s Entertainment met behind closed doors Monday to work on a casino proposal that could lead to a November voter referendum.
The Harrah’s officials met privately with Sen. President Joseph Montalbano, Sen. Stephen Alves and Sen. Maryellen Goodwin, Senate spokesman Greg Pare said.
General Assembly leaders hope to go into recess at the end of this week, if the budget and other key issues, including the casino proposal, are resolved.
