Traffic woes called sure bet for Tsuu T'ina casino
|
Odds are a new casino on Tsuu T'ina lands will further clog roads in his ward, a west-side alderman said yesterday. Ward 6 Ald. Craig Burrows raised the fears in council, less than a week after Tsuu T'ina Nation members voted in favour of a casino and business centre on the old Harvey Barracks site and a ring road running over their lands.
Expecting the western portion of the provincial ring road will add hundreds of thousands of cars to the already over-taxed Sarcee Tr., Burrows said he's only concerned the infrastructure is there to support the band's proposed casino and business centre.
After council got a closed-door update on negotiations between the Tsuu T'ina, city and province on the ring road, Mayor Dave Bronconnier said congestion in some areas will be lifted by the new highway, but others will see it rise.
