Macau opens new resort and casino

The glamor of Macau's gaming market was centered on the Galaxy Waldo Hotel yesterday, which became the newest-opened casino in Macau.
Owned by the Hong Kong-based Galaxy Resort and Casino, the Galaxy Waldo Hotel is situated not far from the Las Vegas Sands, which was opened in May as the first foreign-invested casino in Macau.
Galaxy successfully bid for one of the three gaming licenses issued by the Macau Special Administrative Region government in 2002. By then, the government allowed the Las Vegas Sands Inc, which owns The Venetian Casino Resort, to come in as a sub-concession in Galaxy's bidding.
